Folks that came here via zap.to/fear-no-art: I have links to great Canadian music lower-down on this page. Click this link to get down to the Canadian bands quicker. I did not upload the videos to  YouTube though. The person that did-so was no longer using the zap.to/fear-no-art URL. I asked him (via email) if I could please use the URL, and give him credit for the work that he did, but he did not respond. I hope that y’all have fun seeing the videos. Thank you.

Andy McKee

Andy McKee: Best. Guitarist. Ever. I don’t mean any disrespect to Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoades, or [INSERT NAME HERE] but Andy McKee even makes Africa (the Toto song) sound good. Who else could do that? No one.  Click here to see all the videos!

Smoosh

Smoosh is two young sisters. This is one of my favorite bands. Here is Smoosh’s ”La Pump” video:

Tim Fite

(Here and on MySpace)

He combines rap, visual art, spoken word poetry, industrial, and blues. Is there anyone better than Tim Fite in Hip Hop? I think not.

Here is a complete Tim Fite show via Baebel.

Here is Danielle Stech-Homsy and Tim Fite’s “the water island” project.

Here is a wnyc.org show about Danielle Stech-Homsy, Justin Riddle, and Tim Fite. Click on the “Listen to the whole show” link.

Here is Tim Fite’s “Big Mistake” video (parental advisory lyrics):

Bang Camaro

Remember 1985, playing bass, at that party in Saratoga Springs, and everyone singing Kiss songs at the same time? These guys capture that vibe perfectly, even though they were not-yet gleams in there daddy’s eyes.

Canadian Music!

I used to live near Canada. I visited Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston, Brockville, Cornwall, Windsor and other places in order to listen to, and buy great music, and to eat at great restaurants (Suisha Gardens,  Second Cup, others).

I used to take rides in the biplane at the Canada Aviation Museum.  It was a Boeing Stearman Model 75 built in Wichita KS. The current plane is a Waco UPF-7. (pronounced like “wack-o”). I don’t know what happened to the Stearman. The rides currently cost $65-$95 CAD.

I went up there to see The Pursuit of Happiness, The Tragically Hip, and many other bands.
