Waukesha, Wisc. (Aug. 15, 2009) – James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing sponsored by H-D/Buell of Appleton finished fifth despite setting a new team record with three crashes during the AMA Pro Racing SunTrust Moto-GT 2-hour endurance race at Virginia International Raceway. Several crashes marred the race and many top teams did not finish.
“I’ve never seen anything like it in a dry race,” said co-rider and team co-owner Paul James. “Jeff crashed on the first lap, then I crashed towards the end of my stint, and Jeff crashed again pretty much where I went off in Turn 1. It was crazy, and it wasn’t just us. Everyone seemed to struggle with front end feel and grip this weekend.”
James Gang/Hoban Brothers maintained fifth place in SunTrust Moto-GT1 points and closed to within two points of fourth, but sits 42 points behind VIR winner and championship points leader Crozier Motorsports.
The AMA Pro SunTrust Moto-GT series continues at New Jersey Motorsports Park on September 5.
